ABOUT US
The Young Professionals of Champaign-Urbana is a non-profit organization operated to promote social welfare to benefit the community and devotes itself to the development of young professionals, through social, educational, and philanthropic events that highlight local businesses.
The YPCU provides social activities by holding a monthly social event, in which the YPCU finds a local bar or restaurant to host a social event to highlight a local business.
The YPCU provides group volunteer activities in which the YPCU assembles a group to donate their time and resources to a charitable group or organization local to Champaign and Urbana. Past volunteer activities have included building a home for Habitat for Humanity, helping at local soup kitchens, helping at the Eastern Illinois Foodbank, and assisting the “Tom Jones Challenger League” – an organization dedicated to ensuring that physically and mentally disabled children might be able to play in a summer baseball league.
The YPCU provides educational services by holding events in which the YPCU finds a speaker(s) willing to donate their time to speak to attendees about topics that would be of concern to a young professional. The YPCU has conducted past educational events about tax self-preparation, financial planning, first time home buying experience, personal branding, and preparing healthy meals to go.
